You are currently browsing the tag archive for the ‘Boot’ tag.

I have a computer fixed with a IBM mother board and P III CPU. Pl let me know how to change boot device.?

The Boot device is selected from within the CMOS. During boot up watch for the Manufacturers screen and select the option to enter new settings. Then select the device you wish to boot from.

This is the F2 key on my machine to enter the CMOS. May be different on your machine as will be the menus within the CMOS. You can only boot from the other device if it has been set up with a boot sector.

Can i use an external hard drive to boot a laptop without an internal hard drive?

Yes, just go into the CMOS during boot up. When you see your system logo tap the function key (on mine F2) then tool around in the menu to select the boot device.
