Fedora 14 tip

I received a number of zip drives of the parallel port variety and plenty of media. Not wanting to waste this and the parallel port is not used anyhow I noticed there was very little useful to me on the web to get the devices going. Also there is a tape drive as well. Here are the simple instructions.

Open a terminal window

Become root su -

type

modprobe imm tap enter

type

modprobe ppa tap enter

type

modprobe vfat tap enter and close the window

The device will appear in the computer icon. Mount the device and it appears on the desktop
